Our Journey of Compassion

Giving Every Dog a Second Chance at Life

Our History

Barking Mad Animal Refuge was born out of a deep passion for animal welfare and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of dogs in need.

What started as a small local effort has grown into a cross-border operation, rescuing approximately 1,000 dogs annually. Our reach extends from the streets and shelters of Texas to loving homes across Canada’s Atlantic coast.

Services

What We Do

Rescue and Rehabilitation

We rescue dogs from abusive situations, neglect, and kill shelters, providing essential medical care and rehabilitation. Our goal is to restore their health and trust, preparing them for adoption.

Lifelong Sanctuary

We provide a permanent, loving home for dogs with terminal illnesses, disabilities, or severe behavioral issues. These dogs receive ongoing care, ensuring they live their remaining years in comfort.

Adoption Services

We carefully match rehabilitated dogs with loving adopters, ensuring each dog finds the right home. Our thorough process guarantees the best possible fit for both the dog and their new family.

Transportation and Relocation

We transport rescued dogs from Texas to Canada every six weeks. This critical service ensures dogs reach safe environments, significantly increasing their chances of finding a loving forever home.

Aggressive Dog Rehabilitation

We specialize in retraining aggressive dogs, particularly those from fighting rings. While not adoptable, we offer them a safe, secure environment in our sanctuary where they can thrive.
